STAC - J Welcomes DOST's Asec. Orijola PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Members of the STACJ met with DOST Assistance Secretary Ma. Lourdes Orijola on April 29, 2010 at the Hotel Monterey Hanzomon, Tokyo to discuss the Balik Scientist Proram (BSP) of the DOST and incoming acitivities.

The Assistant Secretary highlighted the success of the BSP and the DOST's continuing efforts to increase the number of BSP grantees.

Knowing the present situation of research and development (R & D) in the Philippines, BSP is now to be reinforced by a proposed project that will make a registry of overseas-based Filipino scientists, researchers, students, venture capitalists, and technology entrepreneurs. Scheduled to be unveiled in June 2010 in the United States through STAC Silicon Valley and the Philippine Consulate in the US, this registry is planned to followed by launchings in Europe, Japan, and Australia later this year. The Assistant Secretary is pushing for the launching in Japan through a concerted effort by the Philippine Consulate in Tokyo, Japan-based Special Trade Representatives, and STACJ.
